Topeka High’s Equity Committee is currently meeting weekly discussing Glenn Singleton’s book, Courageous Conversation About Race. The team’s charge is to look at the impact on race in education. Through collaboration, we hope to achieve educational equity by raising the achievement of all students while narrowing gaps between the lowest and highest performing students. Achieving true equity for all learners must be the central and essential component of any attempt to close the achievement gap. In the classroom, this means providing every student with what each individual needs to succeed and learn.
